Dear Atlas,
It’s me, your Dad.
Your arrival is so close, it nearly feels like you’re here already. But the time with your Mom has been dear and sweet as we prepare for you.
I’ve started to see your Mom differently since you were conceived. As you’ve grown inside of her, she has blossomed in her beauty, care, and radiance. You should see her, Atlas. She’s beautiful.
Through your pregnancy, I’ve started to see myself differently as well. Whenever I look back at my relationship with my own Father, I think of the times that went well, and of those I wish could have gone differently. That’s where you come into the picture. Now it’s up to me to do things differently and be that change for you (and for myself) as your Dad and as a husband to your Mom.
Things don’t get done on their own, Atlas. Time is the most valuable commodity you have. I hope we get to spend a lot of it together as a family.
I want to be happy, healthy, and well for our family, Atlas. I want that first for myself because it has to start from me. Lately I’ve been paying attention to my own habits (good and bad) and have started to see how much everything I do will impact a larger circle than me: us, our family.
That revelation brings me a new perspective, as well as a desire to live a healthy life together as a family.
I can’t wait to look into those beautiful eyes of yours.
You are precious, irreplaceable, wonderful, and loved!
Love,
Dad
