Dear Atlas,
It’s me, your Dad.
One of my favorite things in life is waking up early on a Saturday morning. Saturday feels like a day of rest, and the early morning hours feel especially free when nobody else is awake.
I’m looking outside now at the beautiful jungle surrounding our home. Birds are flying through the air, which is filled with the sound of their calls.
Soon, you and I will be sharing these moments together. We’ll sit at the windowsill and watch as the birds come down to eat the little pieces of food I’ll place on the edge of our balcony. Those moments, Atlas, are the priceless treasures I look forward to in parenting.
Truth be told, the whole parenting process is a treasure. I know all of the moments may not be as soft and sweet as the idea of feeding morning birds, but I think there will be more than enough joy in your face to help me never lose sight of what’s important.
Your Uncle Mark had a dream about you yesterday! He said he was present for your birth and you came out a very happy, smiling child. You also looked just like me, he said.
We’ll find out soon. Very soon.
I love you,
Dad
